Sleep and the House

Ugh! Sleep. Sam has been battling sleep since he figured out there are so many cool things to do...it seems to take us an hour or more some nights to convince him he needs to rest. Finally after numerous threats of "crying it out" and slammed doors we have decided to cut out his daytime nap. I am hesitant to remove them completely and perhaps some days he will still have a short one, but today he went without a nap and it was actually a really nice, freeing day. We went to the park when he normally would have been napping and it was sunny and warm and then in the afternoon he played and watched a movie while I painted the bathroom! He also went to sleep with no struggle. We'll see how tomorrow goes, but I think we may have found our groove....for now anyway.

Lately my house has been driving me crazy so this week I have done the following things to make my home more comfortable and make me feel less stressed:

  • I rearranged the living room so we now have a reading corner and a place to sit and chat by a fire.
  • I rearranged the play room so there is a more defined "tv space" and "play space"... not that I think it will stay this way, but at least in evenings when we are relaxing it will be nice.
  • I am also about 65% finished painting the bathroom. I also bought a new light fixture for it and it already looks so much better, even with just the primer on the walls. I should finish tomorrow morning and I will post pictures then.

Granted I still have curtains to hang and more painting to do, but I am feeling better about my living spaces!
