He invited six of his best friends, their siblings and families. We ended up having a nice group of people and some great laughs. One of our chickens escaped just as everyone was arriving and most of our guests came to see me running after a chicken through the field in a dress and muck boots! I am sure it was quite a strange sight to see.
Sam requested a "guitar cake". I have never been the mom to make the entire birthday a theme and certainly not a mom to make shapes out of cake, but I did it this time for my sweet first born and he was pretty happy with it. I don't think I'll ever do it again...although Arlo proceeded to ask for a guitar cake at his next birthday. Between Sam's birthday at school, Arlo's last day of school before surgery and extra for the party...I made over 100 cupcakes this week! I'll probaly never do that again either...until next year.
Arlo had a great time and it was a good thing he was able to try to get all his "crazies" out before his surgery. He can be such a fruit cake...in a sweet way, of course.Still big into dress up, Sam had a great time with this armor set, sword and helmet included. He and his friend ran around in the orchard killing dragons until it was dark.Otis had a really great time toddling around and getting into everything. Now that he is walking his body beginning to change so much. I just had to take a photo of his ankle fat resting on top of his converse sneakers (which both Sam and Arlo wore as their first walking shoes). I never want to forget that!
And here's my big boy; so sweet and freckled. Intelligent. Thoughtful. Sincere. Compassionate.
